NBA projection:
English made the Portsmouth Invitational all-tournament team after averaging 18.3 points and racking up a pair of 22-point games despite not shooting as well as he’s capable (.429 FG, .364 3PT). That was perhaps because he volunteered to play the point so teammates Ashton Gibbs and Juan Fernandez could play on the wings. But NBA scouts still got yet another look at his scoring ability. He’s been projected in the second-round to undrafted category. English will be impressive in individual workouts and, especially, interviews, and that could help him come draft day.
2011-12 Season:
English played a huge part in Missouri’s 30-5 season, especially during the Big 12 Tournament, which the Tigers won despite a Most Outstanding Player performance by English, who scored 69 points while shooting .788 from the field and .667 from 3-point range. English was chosen to the All-Big 12 second team. Missouri’s season ended in disappointment when the No. 2-seeded Tigers lost to No. 15 seed Norfolk State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. English scored just two points in that game, missing all five of his 3-point attempts.
Key statistics:
14.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.7 tpg, 1.3 spg, 33.6 mpg, .521 FG, .459 3PT, .725 FT
Cool statistic:
No player in Missouri history played in more games than English (141).
Reminds me of:
Daequan Cook
What Insiders Say:
Missouri guard Phil Pressey
“When he gets hot, I mean, there's not much you can do. We see that every day in practice.”
