NBA projection:
Brown is projected in the second-round to undrafted category. The Big 12 All-Academic selection wasn’t naive about the process of declaring for the draft despite having a year of eligibility remaining. He knew he was taking a risk, but he has a daughter and he thought he needed to try and begin making a living to better take care of her. If he finds his way into the right system, perhaps Brown can make an impression. Most draft experts don’t see him being selected, so Brown would have to go the free agent route.

2011-12 Season:
After the Longhorns lost several key players, some early to the NBA draft, from 2010-11, Brown was left with the task of having to be the primary scorer. He responded, leading the Big 12 with his average of 20.1 points per game and racking up 683 points, the sixth highest total in program history. Brown reached double-figure scoring in 32 of 34 games, but he was also second on the team in assists and steals. He was an easy choice for the All-Big 12 first team.

Key statistics:
20.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 3.82 apg, 2.7 tpg, 1.2 spg, 35.6 mpg, .417 FG, .369 3PT, .863 FT

Cool statistic:
As a junior, Brown scored 20 or more points 19 times and 30 or more four times.

What Insiders Say:
Texas coach Rick Barnes
“We rely on him — I don't think people really understand how hard it is to score 20 points a night, night in and night out or do what he does because I can assure you that every team that we played this year he has been the focus of their game plan.

“So he goes out every game with a big bulls eye on his back. He's not only going to be guarded by one person, a team defense that's going to look to try to stop him because he's a terrific offensive player and — but he's been pretty darn consistent all year.”

What Outsiders Say:
Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg
“That kid, he's a load. He's a big‑time player. He made big‑time plays tonight.”

Texas Tech coach Billy Gillispie
“[Brown is] a heart attack every time he gets the ball. He's an explosive scorer, a savvy passer and a lethal free-throw shooter.”
