Sacramento Kings Team Overview

2010-11 record: 24-58

Fifth place, Pacific Division

Did not make the playoffs

Round: 1

Round: 2

Areas of Strength:
Rebounding. But that comes with the asterisk that finishing second in the league in rebound percentage was with Dalembert contributing 8.2 boards a game, and now he is a free agent. In a world when the ground seems to always be shifting under the Kings, even the strength is not a certainty.

Needs Work:
Shooting, defense and turnovers. The three players who topped the team in scoring -- Marcus Thornton after the acquisition from the Hornets, Evans and Cousins -- none did better for the season than Thornton's 43.4 percent from the field. The Kings need better ball handling, better decisions and Evans returning to his Rookie-of-the-Year form after a backslide in 2010-11.

Two Stats That Matter:
-- Seasons left in Sacramento unless the city and the team reach a deal on a new arena.

40.9 -- Percent of shots made by Evans in a concerning drop from the 45.8 in 2009-10.

The Way To Go:
The last thing the Kings need is adding someone else who could monopolize the ball into the same backcourt that already has Evans and Thornton. But one of the first things the Kings need is leadership, which makes Kemba Walker an interesting possibility at No. 7. The understandable desire to get a distributing point guard at some stage could prompt them to pass on Walker or Brandon Knight and take a small forward in a position need or a power forward to permanently move Cousins to center.
