  • Birthdate: April 2, 1989
  • College: Union Olimpija (Slovenia)

Strengths:

  * Very good FT shooter
  * Has received solid coaching in both Greece and Slovenia, showing good recent improvement

NBA projection:
He worked out with NBA teams previous to 2008 draft. Has added experience. Development is slow but he's playing pretty well lately in Euroleague and Adriatic League. With his size, aggressiveness and basic skills, is an intriguing prospect and some NBA teams could use a second-round pick (mid/low probably) and tracking him as a long term prospect.

2010-11 season:
He's on loan from Euro power Panathinaikos to Union Olimpija.  His "per 40 minute" averages are solid and he is shooting an amazing 71 percent from the floor and 84 percent from the foul line.

Key statistic:
2010-11 Union Olimpija – Adriatic League: 15 mpg, 6.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg. FG 71%, FT 84%
Union Olimpija – Euroleague: 15 mpg, 7.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.1 bpg, FG 71%, FT 84%

Cool statistic:
Giorgi took the basketball world by storm after averaging 35.8 points, 16.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 3.3 blocks and 2.5 steals in the Georgian first division at the age of 19. According to him, his former agent withdrew his name from the 2008 NBA draft without his awareness. He signed that summer with European powerhouse Panathinaikos.

What the Experts Say:
Luka Bassin, Coach - Slovenia, International Scout, NetScouts Basketball
"Big guy from Georgia who slowly, step by step, becoming one of the best European centers. He has unbelievable feeling for blocking shots, can run the floor extremely good for his size. Very good pick/roll player and inventive under the basket. He has nice shooting technique, can shoot from high-post and is very good free-throw shooter. Need to be more aggressive. Made very good move by coming to Ljubljana. I think he is NBA prospect."

Current contract and team:
Union Olimpija (Slovenia) in Adriatic League & Euroleague, on loan from Panathinaikos (Greece)
