NEW YORK – Dec. 3, 2007 – The Boston Celtics today announced they assigned Gabe Pruitt, their second-round selection in the 2007 NBA Draft, to their D-League affiliate Utah Flash for the second time during the 2007-08 season. Pruitt was previously assigned to the D-League on Nov. 23 and recalled to the Celtics on Nov. 26. NBA players in their first or second year of service are eligible to be assigned three times during a season to their team’s D-League affiliate.
A 6-4 guard from USC, Pruitt averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 37 minutes per game during his first stint in the D-League this season, including leading the Flash to the first win in franchise history with a 31-point performance against the Anaheim Arsenal on Nov. 24.
Since his Nov. 26 recall, Pruitt has averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 assists in six minutes of action for the Celtics, including two points, one rebound and four assists in 13 minutes against the New York Knicks on Nov. 29.
Pruitt joins a Flash team which features fellow Celtic assignee Brandon Wallace and is third overall in the West Division (2-2 on the season). Pruitt’s second assignment is the 14th this season.
Pruitt, who will wear number 18, is expected to be available for tonight’s game between the Flash and the Arsenal in Anaheim, Calif.
