Brad Jones
Head Coach, Utah Flash
Brad Jones has served as a regional scout for the Utah Jazz since 2001. His new position as head coach of the Utah Flash combines his experience with professional basketball and his experience coaching the fast-paced action of college ball.
Since 2003. Jones has taught as an adjunct professor at Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies. Prior to teaching at SLU, Jones was associate athletics director and head men’s basketball coach at Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn. At Lambuth, Jones earned two conference titles, was twice named Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year, coached five consecutive seasons with 20+ wins, and led the team to its first national tournament appearance in school history. During his tenure at Lambuth, he also taught health and physical education.
As an undergraduate collegiate athlete, Jones was appointed captain of the basketball team and won both Male Athlete of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year awards.
Jones brings to the Utah Flash a passion for basketball and enthusiasm for preparing players for the NBA. He plans to mimic the coaching style of the coaching staff of the Utah Jazz, in order to best capitalize on a win-win major-minor league partnership.
David FredmanDavid Fredman is well known in Utah, due to his 28 years of service to the Utah Jazz. He started with the team when it was still based in New Orleans. He worked his way up from an internship to director of public relations, marketing and broadcasting before being promoted to basketball operations by Frank Layden. He was named director of scouting/assistant coach in 2000.
During Fredman’s tenure, the Jazz made 18 consecutive visits to the playoffs, won six Midwest Division titles and made two trips to the NBA Finals.
In 2002, Fredman became the assistant general manager of the Denver Nuggets. He is credited with engineering trades and making quality draft choices that transformed the struggling team to an up-and-coming team in the NBA. In the 2003-04 season, the Nuggets posted the sixth-biggest turnaround in NBA history, improving their win total by 26 games and reaching the playoffs for the first time since 1995.
Fredman brings to the Utah Flash a wealth of knowledge in virtually all aspects of basketball operations. His breadth of experience includes day-to-day team operations, draft preparation, contract negotiations, player evaluation, game preparation, scouting, broadcasting, advertising and public relations. He has worked with Frank Layden, Jerry Sloan, Kevin O’Connor and Scott Layden. He rejoined the Jazz scouting staff in 2006.
Brandt AndersenOver the past several years 29-year-old Brandt Andersen has spent his time investing and working on cutting-edge creative projects and businesses.
In 1999 while attending Brigham Young University, Andersen founded uSight, a leading provider of software products and services for small businesses. In 2004 uSight was named the 2nd fastest growing privately held company in America by INC Magazine. Andersen was the youngest CEO to make the list. In 2004 he sold a portion of the company to Kansas City based NMR Inc.
Andersen is currently the general partner and owner of two large real estate development projects. The Lakes at Sleepy Ridge, surrounds the Sleepy Ridge Golf Course, a Dye Family Course, in Orem, Utah. This residential community is one of the top golf course communities in the Western United States.
He is also the general partner and owner of a real estate project for which he has employed the services of world-renowned architect Frank Gehry of Frank O Gehry and Associates. When completed, this Gehry collaboration in Lehi, Utah promises to become an architectural icon of the Western United States and marks the first time Frank Gehry has agreed to work on a project in the State. The project will include a wakeboard lake, high-end lifestyle shopping and restaurants, as well as a five star hotel and residential community.
