Tulsa Wraps Up Open Tryouts

TULSA, Okla., Oct. 9, 2011— The Tulsa 66ers, proud affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder, concluded open tryouts Sunday morning inside the Tulsa Convention Center. All Saturday participants were invited back to Sunday’s 10 a.m. session.

“I thought that yesterday was very productive,” Tulsa 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts said. “Typically, we will cut down to around 16 guys, but we felt like everyone did a great job on opening day.”

Competing for invitations to 66ers training camp in November, the players went through a two-hour workout on the closing day.

“I thought it was good to just let them play today,” Tibbetts said. “We reviewed our sets offensively. I thought our recognition of the plays and our spacing was good and I thought everyone did a good job of sharing the basketball.”

The Tulsa 66ers open the 2011-12 D-League season on the road Nov. 25 at Idaho. Season tickets for all 24 home games this season, including the home-opener against the Austin Toros on Dec. 3, are now on sale by calling the 66ers ticket office at (918) 585-8444.

“Everyone here in Tulsa is looking forward to another great season,” Tibbetts said. “I’m proud of our accomplishments the past two years and we hope to build on that and continue to be a team that works hard and improves every day.”
