Tulsa Prepares for Thunder-Filled Weekend

TULSA, Okla., Tuesday, October 16, 2012 - Tulsa basketball fans have an exciting weekend ahead when the Oklahoma City Thunder visits Green Country.

The festivities begin Thursday night when the Thunder hosts its annual Blue and White Scrimmage at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the SpiritBank Event Center, which serves as the new home of the Thunderís NBA D-League affiliate Ė the Tulsa 66ers.

A training-camp tradition, the Blue and White Scrimmage offers a chance for the Thunder to connect with Oklahoma communities, bringing the excitement of Thunder Basketball to fans across the state. With previous events being held in Bethany, Yukon and Midwest City, this seasonís Blue and White Scrimmage is the first to take place in the greater Tulsa area.

In addition to an all-team scrimmage, the open practice will include many Thunder game-night features, such as Rumble, the Thunder Girls, the Storm Chasers dunk team, Thunder Drummers and more. Fans will also be able to enjoy spirit stations and gear up at the Thunder merchandise trailer.

The Thunder will head downtown the following night and host the Phoenix Suns in a preseason contest at Tulsaís BOK Center at 7 p.m. It marks the fourth time the Thunder has played at the BOK Center.

Oklahoma City fell to Houston and Utah in its opening two preseason games and will face Charlotte on Tuesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

On Saturday, the Tulsa 66ers will host open tryouts for the 2012-13 season at the SpiritBank Event Center with members of the Thunder basketball operations staff on hand to evaluate talent. Previous open tryouts have produced several players who made the 66ers opening night roster including Brandon Brooks, Ben Colon, Marcus Lewis and LaDustin Williams.
