Tulsa 66ers Defeat Bakersfield Jam, 108-93

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Nov. 20, 2010 The Tulsa 66ers recorded their first victory of the season in dominant fashion, defeating the Bakersfield Jam (1-1) by a 108-93 final score Saturday evening in Bakersfield, Calif. Five 66ers scored in double figures and Tulsa (1-1) stepped up its defense, forcing 19 Jam turnovers.

The 66ers recorded 30 assists on 38 made field goals (38-74) and were 8-18 (.444) from 3-point range.

Tulsa was led by Zabian Dowdell on the offensive end, as the guard posted 21 points, including 19 in the first half, and a game-high eight assists. Marcus Lewis recorded a double-double for the 66ers with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Elijah Millsap and Tweety Carter both scored 18 points and Larry Owens pitched in 17.

Bakersfield was led by guard Jeremy Wise who recorded a game-high 22 points. Forward Marqus Blakely posted a double-double for the Jam with 11 points and 10 boards.

Tulsa set the tone early on the defensive end, holding the Jam to 13-39 (.333) shooting in the first half while forcing 12 turnovers. Offensively, the 66ers recorded 17 assists on 18 field goal makes to hold a 49-41 halftime lead.

The 66ers suited up and played only eight players for the second consecutive night, as 66ers guard Jerome Dyson and forward Latavious Williams both sat out due to injury.
