Tulsa 66ers to Tipoff NBA D-League Season on Friday, Nov. 19

Tulsa, Okla., August 09, 2010 – The NBA Development League announced its 2010-2011 regular season schedule Monday afternoon, and the Tulsa 66ers, direct affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder, will tipoff the season on the road with a back-to-back matchup against the Bakersfield Jam on Nov. 19 and 20.

The 66ers’ home opener is slated for Nov. 26 against the Iowa Energy inside the Tulsa Convention Center at 7 p.m.

The Tulsa-Bakersfield contest is the first of 50 regular season games for the 66ers, 24 of which will take place at home inside the Tulsa Convention Center. The 66ers will also take part in the 2011 NBA D-League Showcase held Jan. 10-13 at the South Padre Island Convention Center in South Padre Island, Texas.

“We are pleased that 18 out of our 24 home games will be played on weekends at the Tulsa Convention Center,” team President Jim Brylewski said. “We will continue to provide the opportunity for our fans to see professional basketball while having an enjoyable evening of family entertainment at affordable prices.”

Tulsa is coming off of a season where it advanced to the NBA D-League finals, while setting franchise records in both wins (27) and attendance (3,043 avg/game).

“The entire Tulsa organization is eager to build on last season’s success,” 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts said.

On Sunday, Dec. 5 the Rio Grande Valley Vipers make their first visit to Tulsa since the two teams battled for the 2010 NBA D-League championship. The Vipers will make an additional trip to Tulsa on Saturday, March 26.

The newest NBA D-League franchise, the Texas Legends, make their inaugural appearance at the Tulsa Convention Center on Saturday, Jan. 22.

Also highlighting the 2010-11 NBA D-League schedule is the fifth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game and the Dream Factory skills competition, which will take place as part of NBA Jam Session presented by Adidas at NBA All-Star 2011 in Los Angeles.

With the addition of the Legends, the NBA D-League will be comprised of 16 teams. Each team is affiliated with one, two or three NBA teams, giving fans multiple chances to see current and future NBA players each night at the Tulsa Convention Center.
