OKLAHOMA CITY, August 17, 2009 – The Oklahoma City Thunder named Dale Osbourne assistant coach of the their NBA Development League affiliate, the Tulsa 66ers, it was announced today by Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.

Osbourne spent the past two seasons serving as an assistant coach with the Utah Flash of the NBA Development League. This past season, Osbourne helped guide the Flash to a Western Division leading 32-18 regular season record and a spot in the D-League Championship Game.

“We are extremely excited to add Dale Osbourne to our coaching staff,” said first-year 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts. “Coach Osborne will bring much experience to the 66ers and Thunder organization.” Osbourne brings 19 years of coaching experience and versatility to the 66ers bench. His coaching resume includes stints in the USBL, CBA and WNBA prior to joining the D-League.

Before his two years with the Flash, Osbourne spent the 2006-07 season as an assistant coach with the Austin Toros. From 2004-06, Osbourne was head coach of the USBL Dodge City Legend, and also served as the team’s general manager in 2005-06. He led Dodge City to consecutive regular season and division championships in 2004 and 2005, and was named the 2004 USBL Coach of the Year. The Legend won the USBL championship in 2004-05 and reached the finals the following season.
