66ers Visit the Tulsa Community Food Bank

TULSA, Okla., Jan. 3, 2012Tulsa 66ers players visited the Tulsa Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon to help sort canned items that were donated over the holiday season.

Susan Tilkin, Director of Communication and Marketing at the Food Bank, explained that over 63,000 pounds of food were donated to the Tulsa center in the month of December. Tulsa 66ers players helped sort canned goods that will be repackaged and delivered to over 450 partner programs, which include emergency shelters, kids programs and pantries.

"We rely heavily on our volunteers to help us sort and repackage food items," Tilkin said. "The Tulsa 66ers coming out today is a great example of the tremendous support we have received from the Tulsa community. We would not be able to provide nearly the amount of food without our incredible volunteers."
