66ers Team Up for Food Drive Friday

TULSA, Okla., Dec. 14, 2010 – The Tulsa 66ers and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma are teaming up this Friday, Dec. 17, by hosting a food drive at the 66ers game against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 7 p.m. inside the Tulsa Convention Center.

Fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the drive. Bins will be available at the 66ers box office for donated items. Those who donate will receive raffle tickets for prizes announced throughout Friday’s game.

The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is a nonprofit organization that distributes donated food to 460 charitable programs in 24 counties in Eastern Oklahoma. These include food pantries, on-site feeding programs, shelters for the homeless and abused women and children, after-school programs, family and children service agencies and senior citizen centers.

The Community Food Bank needs these nutritious foods:

  • Canned meats (tuna, chicken and salmon, etc.)
  • Canned fruits
  • Canned and boxed meals (soup, macaroni and cheese, etc.)
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly
  • Canned or dried beans and peas (black, pinto, lentils, etc.)
  • Pasta, rice, cereal
  • Baby cereal and formula
  • 100% fruit juice (canned, plastic or boxed)
