66ers Host Day One of Open Tryouts

TULSA, Okla., Oct. 20, 2012 - The Tulsa 66ers, proud affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder, hosted day one of their open tryouts Saturday at the SpiritBank Event Center.

The first day of tryouts featured two sessions at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., each lasting around two hours. Sixty-three NBA D-League hopefuls from 17 states, including 25 players from the state of Oklahoma, participated in the opening day of tryouts.

The 66ers tryouts have been a valuable resource for Tulsa in recent years. Previous open tryouts have produced several players who made the 66ers opening night roster including Brandon Brooks, Ben Colon, Marcus Lewis and LaDustin Williams.

Lewis made the 66ers roster after the 2009 open tryouts and went on to become Tulsa’s all-time leader in career rebounds (989) and games played (137).

Tryouts conclude on Sunday with morning session beginning at 9 a.m. at the SpiritBank Event Center.

Tulsa opens the 2011-12 season on its new home court on Nov. 23 against Texas. For season ticket information, call the 66ers ticket office at (918) 585-8444.
