66ERS FINISH STRONG TO DOWN FORT WAYNE, 87-81
The 66ers, who trailed by as many as 13 in the second half, used a strong defensive performance in the closing minutes to secure their third consecutive win. After shooting over 60 percent as a team in the first half, the Mad Ants were held to just 13-of-33 (.333) shooting from the floor after halftime.
We talked at halftime how we needed to come out in the second half and step up our energy on the defensive end, 66ers head coach Dale Osbourne said. We got stops when we needed to and we really took it up a notch on both ends of the floor.
Offensively, Tulsa was balanced with six players scoring in double figures, including Brady Morningstar with 13 and Xavier Alexander and Robert Vaden with 12 each. The team racked up 18 assists, led by Dyson, Lewis and Morningstar with four each.
Leading Fort Wayne with a double-double was Darington Hobson with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Mike Tisdale added a team-high 20 points.
The 66ers will host the Mad Ants again tomorrow night, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. CT inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
