66ers Collect 10th Straight Victory Saturday Night

RIO RANCHO, N.M., Jan. 15, 2011-- The Tulsa 66ers (18-6) overcame a 15-point deficit on the road Saturday night against the New Mexico Thunderbirds (11-12) to earn their 10th consecutive victory 100-95 in Rio Rancho, N.M., inside the Santa Ana Star Center. Leading the Tulsa charge was Tweety Carter with 21 points, including a 6-9 mark from beyond the arc, and Cole Aldrich with 10 points and a season-high eight blocked shots.

Also in double-figure scoring for Tulsa was Latavious Williams with 19 and Robert Vaden with 13. Ryan Reid led the 66ers with 10 rebounds.

The 66ers trailed the entire contest before recording a 13-3 run midway through the fourth quarter to take a 90-84 lead. With the game tied 92-92 with 2:45 remaining in the fourth, Tulsa used an 8-3 spurt to seal the victory. With the win, the 66ers remain in first place in the Western Conference.

Defensively, Tulsa forced 20 New Mexico turnovers and collected nine steals, including a team-high four from Elijah Millsap, to earn its seventh consecutive road victory.

The Thunderbirds were led offensively by Dar Tucker with 27 points. Shane Edwards posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
