66ers in the Community: Gilcrease Middle School

TULSA, Okla., Dec. 8, 2010 – Tulsa 66ers players Marcus Lewis and Robert Vaden took a timeout on Wednesday afternoon to visit Gilcrease Middle School in Tulsa to speak to students about the value of literacy, staying in school and the importance of education.

Approximately 50 students were in attendance for the visit.

“It was a privilege to have a couple of the 66ers players out today to speak to some of our students,” Gilcrease faculty member Tyrone Pelzer said. “Some of these students need positive role models in their lives and these two young men are great examples of that. We appreciate them taking the time to speak to us and deliver great messages and wisdom to our students.”
