Tulsa, Okla., December 16, 2009 – The Tulsa 66ers announced today that the team has acquired point guard Zabian Dowdell.

Dowdell played in Italy during the 2008-09 season, where he averaged 19.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.2 steals in 37 games. The 6-3 guard played in France during the 2007-08 season and has played in the NBA Summer League each of the past three seasons.

The Virginia Tech University product ended his collegiate career seventh in scoring (1,785), fifth in assists (380), and third in steals (241). He was named an All-American honorable mention and first team All-ACC during the 2006-07 season. Dowdell twice received All-ACC honorable mention honors, and All-ACC Defensive team honors.

To make room for Dowdell on the roster, the 66ers released guard Mitch Johnson. Dowdell will be in uniform for Tulsa’s next game this Friday, Dec. 18, and will wear number 7.
