Training Camp Invites
LEGENDS INVITED TO NBA TRAINING CAMP
Frisco, TX DEC. 13, 2011 - The Texas Legends are proud to announce that four players have been selected to attend NBA training camps starting Friday, December 9th. Jamal Sampson will join the Boston Celtics training camp, Matt Rogers will go to the Indiana Pacers, Dominique Johnson to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lawrence Hill will fight for a roster spot with the Sacramento Kings.
Jamal Sampson, the 6'11" forward / center from California University, has been a force for the Legends averaging 14.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in two games. Sampson is a former second round pick (47th overall) of the Utah Jazz and played five seasons in the NBA with five different teams.
Matt Rogers, the first ever draft pick by the Texas Legends out of Southwest Baptist University, provides a unique skill set at 6'11" with both his shooting ability and athleticism. Rogers is having a strong season for the Legends averaging 9.3 points and 5.8 rebounds on 50% shooting.
Dominique Johnson, a 6'3" swingman from Azusa Pacific, has provided a scoring punch for the Legends averaging 18.0 points per game along with 3.8 boards and 2.3 assists. Johnson returns to the Legends after a strong second half to the 2010-11 season where he recorded six games of 20 points or more including a 31 point explosion off the bench against the New Mexico Thunderbirds on 2/1/11.
Lawrence Hill, the Legends 2011 third round pick from Stanford has been consistent this season, providing 14.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks as a 6'8" forward. Hill previously played in the NBA Summer League for the Phoenix Suns (2010) and the Golden State Warriors (2009).
