The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), will honor the true legends of North Texas Dec. 13 by joining with Guns & Hoses to recognize those who lost their lives while protecting ours. The Legends will wear specialty jerseys, thanks to the generosity of SunAmerica Mutual Funds.

Guns & Hoses is a nonprofit that was founded primarily to provide financial support and assistance to those who have lost a loved one in the line of duty. Since 2002, the organization has provided financial assistance to 31 families of fallen police officers and fire fighters in the North Texas area.

Legends players will wear specialty jerseys honoring Guns & Hoses, uniquely branded with both the Legends and Guns & Hoses logo, along with presenting sponsor SunAmerica Mutual Funds. Select jerseys will be available via a silent auction during the game, with all proceeds going back to the Guns & Hoses Foundation. As part of the festivities of the night, select individuals from Guns & Hoses will be recognized as “Legends of the Night.”

“From funeral expenses, to paying for a son or daughter’s college tuition, and in many other ways, Guns and Hoses has been able to assist those families who have lost a hero,” Assistant US District Attorney Taly Haffar said. “We are very grateful for the support of the citizens of north Texas and the Texas Legends! Please visit us at www.gunsandhosesnorthtx.org.”

The Legends face the Houston Rockets affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, at 7 pm on Dec 13. This will be the second matchup between the two teams this season. In their first showdown the Vipers overwhelmed the Legends, hitting 24 from beyond the arc, breaking the league record for 3-pointers. The Legends will be seeking revenge on their home court behind leading scorers and top prospects Chris Douglas-Roberts and Devin Ebanks. Rio Grande Valley is currently one of two remaining teams without a loss. The Vipers host Reno at home Dec 10 then travel to Austin Thursday, Dec 12 before making their way to Frisco.

The game will be broadcast live on television—KTXD47—and radio—KVCE 1160am.
