Frisco, TX, OCT. 28, 2011 - The Texas Legends will honor the historic career of the great Del Harris by hanging a banner in his honor on December 30 when the Legends play the Tulsa 66ers.

Harris' remarkable basketball career includes awards at all levels of the game. In 12 seasons as head coach in the NBA, Harris amassed over 500 wins while receiving the Coach of the Year award in 1995 with the Los Angeles Lakers. Harris has already been inducted to the NAIA Hall-of-Fame and the Indiana Basketball Hall-of-Fame, among others. In addition, Harris' experience internationally includes contributions to five different national teams including China, USA, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

"Del is a basketball legend in every sense of the word. His knowledge of the game is unparalleled," commented Legends Owner Donnie Nelson. "Del's track record as an impeccable teacher and brilliant mind of the game are more than enough to enshrine him as a Texas Legend for life - but his contributions go beyond the court as he has developed young men off the court as well."

Harris was recently named Legends head coach for the 2011-12 season. He is the only former NBA Coach of the Year to become a head coach in the NBA-D-League.

"I appreciate Donnie's comments," Harris commented. "Basketball has been a big part of my life, it has given me some unbelievable experiences and memories. I am constantly trying to give back to the game, and the community - which is an important part of what the Legends are all about. This is a tremendous honor."

The Legends will open up their season with a home opener on Saturday, November 26th at 3:00PM. The Team plays at HP Court @ Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco.
