2012 Draft Party

FRISCO — When the Texas Legends first welcome the newest players to the Legends family, they want the Legends fans to help. The NBA D-League will hold the 2012 Draft on Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. and Tailgaters will host the Legends and their fans for a draft party as the Legends brain trust makes its picks.

Legends General Manager Del Harris, Assistant General Manager Nancy Lieberman, President of Basketball Operations Spud Webb and Head Coach Eduardo Nájera will make the 8th pick of each round except for the third round, when they will choose in the Maine Red Claws’ slot.

“The Legends are excited to finally get to know who will be on our roster this year,” Legends president Bill Boyce said. “We’ll be looking for guys who play the game the right way, like Eddie used to, with strong defense and fundamentals.”

The eight selected will join players whose rights the Legends have retained as well as any players who are invited to training camp after local player tryouts. The Legends last local player tryout is Saturday, Oct. 20.

When not watching the Legends front office determine the franchise’s future, fans can enjoy specials at the Tailgater’s Draft Party, including $1 off all draft drinks, $2 domestic beers and $3 select mixed drinks. Kids meals will be free when purchased along with an adult entrée.

“We are thrilled to draft our team in the lively atmosphere of Tailgaters,” Boyce said. “Our fans will have a chance to know who the next Legends will be as soon as we know.”

The Draft and the Draft Party both begin at 6 p.m.
