Terrence Williams Becomes Armor’s First-Ever NBA Assignment

On Thursday, the Armor’s first-ever NBA assignment, 2009 1st round pick Terrence Williams from the New Jersey Nets, will take the court for a home game against the Maine Red Claws (7:00 p.m., MassMutual Center).

Williams, the 11th overall pick in the ’09 draft out of Louisville, comes to the Armor with a sterling on-court pedigree. At Louisville, Williams was a two-time Big East All- Conference selection and led the Cardinals to the number one overall seed in the 2009 NCAA Tournament. He was also selected by the Associated Press as a third-team All-American after the 2009 season.

After attending Louisville, Williams averaged 8.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 78 games during his rookie season with the New Jersey Nets in 2009-10. In March of his rookie season, Williams captured the NBA Eastern Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month award after averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.

This season, Williams has been hampered by an abdominal strain and had only played in eight games prior to his assignment to the Armor.

“We’re excited to add a player of Terrence’s caliber to our roster,” Armor coach Dee Brown said. “Terrence is an exciting player who should fit in well with our team.”
