Wingate, a 6 foot 10 inch Forward/Center from Florence South Carolina, played for the University of Tennessee from 2003-2006 and has played for various European teams in Greece, Turkey and France since leaving Tennessee.
“Major will be a good addition to our team,” said Brown. “He is a veteran and a strong front court player who can defend several positions. We are excited to see what he can add to the foundation we have laid here in Springfield.”
Allen played only 19 minutes in Friday night’s game against Iowa and had a total of 7 points, 3 offensive rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and was 3 for 4 from the line.
“Julian is a tremendous athlete and has the drive and determination necessary to make it in this league,” said Head Coach Dee Brown, “I don’t think we have seen the last of him.”
Wingate’s first appearance will be on December 4th when the Armor takes on rival, the Maine Red Claws in Portland, Maine. He will make his Springfield debut the following day on the 5th at 7 p.m. when the Red Claws come down to the MassMutual Center to play the Armor in the second game of the weekend series.
