Skyforce Down Armor for Second Night in a Row
Springfield looked to push the ball at every opportunity in the first half, leading to layups and open jumpers. Milligan was the catalyst for Springfield, compiling 18 points and 8 rebounds in his 20 minutes of first half play. Springfield led by as many as eleven points in the first half and took a 61-51 lead into the second half. David Bailey kept the Skyforce in the game, scoring 21 of his 32 points in the half.
With the Skyforce threatening to get back in the game after cutting the lead to 73-68 midway through the third quarter, the Armor put together a 5-0 run to push the lead back to ten. Tre Whitted scored all five points during the run. Sioux Falls continued to battle and closed the half on a 13-5 run to take a one point lead into the final quarter. Skyforce Center Greg Stiemsma closed up the paint on the Armor, recording six blocks in the game after rejecting six the night before.
The teams exchanged leads early in the quarter until Sioux Falls pulled away and took a 100-93 lead with six minutes to play. Whitted’s jumper cut the lead to 102-99 two minutes later and then Hawkins converted a three point play after two Skyforce free throws. With just two minutes to play, Kyle McAlarney nailed a tough fall-away jumper to tie the game, but Chris McCray hit a jumper of his own to give Sioux Falls the lead back. After two free throws by Alexander Johnson, Hawkins missed on the other end and Sioux Falls made their free-throws for the final margin.
Johnson finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds for the Skyforce. McAlarney scored 20 and dished out seven assists.
