Springfield controlled the first half behind 15 points from Morris Almond and held a nine point advantage at the break. The Red Claws increased the defensive pressure with five third quarter steals, and Tony Bobbitt and Chris Lowe each closed the quarter with six straight points to bring the score within one at 74-73 at the end of three quarters.
The comeback was almost for naught as Springfield started the fourth on a 10-2 run, but Bobbitt stayed hot and came up with the key plays down the stretch. With a 91-90 Red Claw advantage, the Armor had several chances to take the lead but never converted. Bobbitt sealed the win with a pair of free throws with less than 10 seconds showing on the clock.
Will Blalock led the Red Claws with 16 to earn adidas Player of the Game honors while Bobbitt contributed 15. Team captain Billy Thomas found the scoring touch once again, adding 14 of his own. Almond was shut down in the second half but still led the Armor with 15 on the night.
The win makes the Red Claws 13-6 on the season while the Armor are now 3-15.
