Already with a nine-point advantage, Maine opened the fourth quarter on an 11-2 run to take a 91-73 lead and would coast the rest of the way. Recently acquired Russell Robinson came just shy of a triple-double for the Red Claws with 20 points, 11 assists and 8 steals. Robinson, one of three players joined the team this weekend, earned adidas Player of the Game honors for his efforts.
Maine’s Trey Gilder had a strong game with 20 points and nine assists while adding four rebounds and three steals. Paul Davis, who officially joined the team just before game time, scored 20 points with seven rebounds and three blocked shots in his first game with the Red Claws.
Morris Almond led the Armor with 22 points on 14 of 16 attempts from the stripe to go with five boards.
This was the sixth time this month and eighth time this season that the two teams have matched up against each other to continue their East Conference rivalry. Maine improves their record to 18-9 on the season, good for second in the conference, while Springfield falls to 5-20.
Maine’s next game will be on Friday, February 5 at Dakota while the Armor will travel back home to Springfield to take on the Austin Toros on Saturday, February 6.
