Springfield, MA.---The NBA Development League announced today that the Springfield Armor will select 3rd in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft. The draft will take place via Cisco WebEx Meeting Center on Nov. 1 at 7:00 p.m. ET, from the League’s New York headquarters. The Brooklyn Nets basketball operations staff, including the Armor’s coaches, will make the Armor’s selections from the team’s offices in downtown Springfield.

The first eight picks in the 2013 NBA D-League Draft were awarded to teams who did not qualify for the 2013 NBA D-League playoffs, in reverse order of their regular season records. The Delaware 87ers, making their NBA D-League debut for the 2013-14 season, will select ninth. The subsequent eight picks in the Draft will go to those teams who did qualify for the 2013 NBA D-League playoffs, also in reverse order of regular season record. This format will stand for all eight rounds, except in instances where teams previously acquired or traded picks.
The Armor will have a total of 7 draft picks in the 8 round 2013 NBA D-League Draft. The Armor do not own a 2nd round pick as it was traded to the Santa Cruz Warriors in a March 2013 deal that brought Edwin Ubiles to the Armor.
“More than 200 top young prospects will look to use the NBA D-League Draft as a springboard to their NBA dreams,” said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. “With a number of players coming directly from NBA training camps, we’ve been impressed with the level of talent in this draft pool and look forward to welcoming these athletes to the NBA D-League.”
More than 25 players selected in the last four NBA D-League Drafts went on to earn GATORADE Call-Ups to the NBA, including Andrew Goudelock, the second overall selection in 2012. Willie Reed (2012 draftee, 2nd round), Dennis Horner (2011 draftee, 3rd round), Jerry Smith (2010 draftee, 5th round) and JamesOn Curry (2009 draftee, 1st round) have all earned GATORADE Call-Ups after being drafted by the Armor.
