Jeff Foote Signs with New Orleans Hornets

SPRINGFIELD, MA- Jeff Foote has signed with the New Orleans Hornets, making him the second Springfield Armor player to earn a GATORADE Call-Up this season, it was announced today. Foote becomes the third player in Armor history as well as the 30th NBA Development League player this season to earn a call-up.

Foote, a 7-0 center acquired by the Armor on November 29th from the NBA D-League’s available player pool, has played in 29 games (28 starts) for the Armor this season, averaging 14.8 points (55.1 FG%), 8.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 32.9 minutes per game. Foote has posted a team-high ten double-doubles and was named to the 2012 NBA D-League All-Star team.

Foote went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft and had brief stints with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Super League, Melilla Baloncesto in the Spanish Basketball League’s second division and Zastal Zielona Gora in Poland’s top division before returning stateside to join the Armor in November. He enjoyed a standout three-year career at Cornell University, leading the Big Red to three straight Ivy League titles (2008-2010) and the first two NCAA Tournament victories in program history in 2010. Foote was an All-Ivy selection all three years at Cornell, capturing the Ivy League Player of the Year award in 2009 and the All-Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2010.

Foote is expected to join the Hornets today and be available tonight when the team faces the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.
