Dennis Horner Signs with New Jersey Nets

SPRINGFIELD, MA- Dennis Horner has signed with the Springfield Armor’s NBA affiliate, the New Jersey Nets, earning the Armor’s fourth GATORADE Call-Up this season, it was announced today. Horner joins New Jersey for his second stint this season and is among more than 100 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on 2011-12 rosters.

In five games with the Nets this season, Horner is averaging 0.8 points and 0.6 rebounds in 3.2 minutes. He tallied 4 points and 2 rebounds in 8 minutes in his NBA debut against the Atlanta Hawks on December 27.

Horner, a 6-9 forward acquired by the Armor in the third round of the 2011 NBA Development League Draft has played in 25 games this season with the Armor, 20 starts, averaging 17.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 31.4 minutes. Horner has posted 10 double-doubles and has shot .471 from the field and .863 from the foul line this season. In his most recent game on Tuesday, Horner recorded career-highs in points (29) and rebounds (15) in the Armor’s victory over the Maine Red Claws.

Prior to joining the Armor, Horner played four years at North Carolina State. He holds career averages of 6.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 128 games. Horner’s best season came in his senior year (2009-2010), when he averaged 11.9 points and 4.9 rebounds in 36 games.

Horner is expected to join the Nets today and be available tonight when the team faces the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena.
