College Pride Night is Thursday

Join the Springfield Armor on Thursday Jan. 27th at 7:00 p.m. at the MassMutual Center for the Armor’s ‘College Pride’ night, sponsored by Springfield College. While the Armor will be doing battle with the Tulsa 66ers for the first time this season, there will be another compelling battle taking place throughout the evening.

‘College Pride’ night will feature the Armor’s version of College Olympics, pitting Springfield-area colleges against each other in a series of competitions to prove which school has the most pride. Contestants will have the opportunity to compete in the Armor’s Hampden Bank Shot, along with a series of other contests designed to separate the contenders from the pretenders.

Any college student who wears their school’s apparel to the game will receive a ticket for just $5!

On the court, the Armor have won three of their last four games, including a pair of victories over the Erie BayHawks and a weekend series split with the Bakersfield Jam.

Scottie Reynolds has been the catalyst for the Armor offense, averaging 12.5 points and 10 assists per game during the team’s most recent four-game stretch. Craig Brackins’ return from the Philadelphia 76ers has also coincided with the Armor’s strong mid-season push. Since Brackins’ second NBA D-League assignment of the season began on Jan. 15th, Brackins has averaged 25 points per game and the Armor have compiled a record of 3-1.

The Armor’s opponent this week will be the Tulsa 66ers. The 66ers have a league-best record of 20-6 and have won 12 straight games. The last time Tulsa lost was Dec. 28th at Reno. The 66ers have also put together a league-best 11-3 record on the road.

Leading the way for Tulsa is former lottery pick Cole Aldrich. Aldrich, a rookie out of Kansas, averages 9.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. Jerome Dyson, an undrafted rookie out of the University of Connecticut, averages 13.9 points per game. Dyson was also a four-year teammate of current Armor forward Gavin Edwards.

The 66ers are also one of the most balanced scoring offenses in the league, boasting seven players who average double figures, including two players, Zabian Dowdell and Larry Owens, who have already been called up to the NBA.

So make sure to come out to the MassMutual Center this Thursday and Friday to see the Armor in action against the top team in the NBA D-League and to enjoy the Armor’s College Olympics!
