Austin Outlasts Springfield

CEDAR PARK, TX---The Austin Toros (9-3) defeated the Springfield Armor (7-7) 104-92 at Cedar Park Center for the second time in back-to-back games. The Toros Eric Dawson, who posted 17 points and 14 rebounds, recorded his fourth double-double of the season. Springfield jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, but after a quick Coach Jones timeout the Toros came out hot and never cooled off.

Austin led 53-38 at the half behind a stellar performance by forward Jamarr Sanders. He scored 11 first half points on 3-4 shooting behind the 3-point line, and also grabbed seven boards. Sanders finished with a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and a team high six assists. Austin is now 6-0 this season when leading at halftime.

Three other Toros scored in double figures in tonight’s victory. Player of the game Terrance Woodbury scored a game high 23 points on 8-14 shooting and chipped in six rebounds. Lead guard Justin Dentmon posted 21 points and eight rebounds, and Da’Sean Butler had a strong outing in his second game of the season with 13 points.

Springfield was led in scoring by forward JamesOn Curry, who totaled 22 points and tied for a team high five assists. Center Jeff Foote contributed a double-double scoring 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Guards L.D. Williams (18 points) and Jerry Smith (12 points) rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Armor.
