BISMARCK, N.D. -- The visiting Springfield Armor shot 6 for 10 from behind the arc in the second quarter and 14 for 26 overall as they came away with the weekend sweep Friday night, winning 108-103 over the Dakota Wizards. Lance Hurdle was dialed in, connecting on 8 of his 10 three point attempts on his way to a game high 25 points.
The Wizards got off to a much better start Friday night as they welcomed Edwin Ubiles back to the team after attending the Golden State Warriors NBA training camp. Both teams were a bit sloppy in the first quarter and the Wizards found themselves down 2 heading into the second, 28-26. Springfield poured in 6 threes in the second quarter and the Wizards offense could not keep up as the Armor built an 11 point lead heading into the half.
Edwin Ubiles scored a quick 6 points to start the third as the Wizards cut the Armor lead to 3 at the 8:10 mark. The third quarter was a quarter of runs as the Armor built their lead back up 9 before Dakota responded with a 9-3 run to end the quarter down 3, 80-77. A Justin Johnson lay-up late in the fourth quarter gave the Wizards their first lead since early in the second, but the Armor would finish off the Wizards on free throws sealing a 108-103 victory.
Edwin Ubiles scored 24 points and snagged 7 rebounds to lead the Wizards. Curtis Withers recorded a double-double grabbing 10 boards to go along with 10 points.
Springfield had a balanced attack with 6 players in double figures. Eugene Spates recorded a double-double for the Armor tallying 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Springfield improves to 7-4 on the season while the Wizards drop to 4-6.
