SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Springfield Armor led by as many as 24 points tonight and held off a late Erie rally to pull out a 114-107 victory inside the MassMutual Center. The Armor have now won a franchise-best four games in a row and improve their record to 5-1.
Lance Hurdle continued his recent scoring outburst tonight, connecting for 19 of his team-high 31 points in the first quarter. Hurdle has now averaged 28.6 points in his last three games.
Additionally, Jamar Brown scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, Johnny Thomas added a season-high 21 points and L.D. Williams chipped in with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Armor out-rebounded their sixth opponent in as many games, holding a 46-36 edge on the glass. The BayHawks scored the first two points of the game, but led for just 20 seconds before the Armor seized the lead and never looked back.
Erie was led by Tirrell Baines' 31-point, 10-rebound effort. B.J. Jenkins added 22 points and Kyle Spain scored 15.
The Armor and BayHawks will do battle again tomorrow evening at 7:00 PM at the MassMutual Center. Tomorrow evening's game will be the Armor's final home game until Jan. 5 as the Armor will hit the road for a seven game, 16 day road trip.
