Springfield, Mass. (Aug. 30, 2012) – The Springfield Armor will open the 2012-13 season on the road on Saturday, Nov. 24 against the Canton Charge. The season opener tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Canton Memorial Civic Center in Canton, Ohio. The Armor will kick off their fourth season in Springfield on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. ET against the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
The defending Eastern Division champion Armor are set to play 12 of their 24 home games on Friday or Saturday and will play an additional two home games on Sunday, the first Sunday home games in Springfield since the 2010-11 season. 12 different teams will visit the MassMutual Center this season, including the defending NBA Development League champion Austin Toros and a first-ever visit from the team with the best regular season record in the NBA D-League a season ago, the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
The NBA D-League Showcase will once again be held in Reno, Nev. from Jan. 7-10 with the specific game schedule to be announced at a later date, while the NBA D-League All-Star Game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16 in Houston in conjunction with NBA All-Star activities. The Armor will play a 50-game schedule, with 24 true home games, 24 true road games and the two games at the NBA D-League Showcase.
This season, the NBA D-League will feature three divisions, East, Central and West. The Eastern Division includes the Armor, Canton, Erie BayHawks, Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Maine Red Claws. The Central Division will consist of Austin, Iowa Energy, Sioux Falls, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Texas Legends and Tulsa 66ers. The Western Division will feature the Bakersfield Jam, Idaho Stampede, Los Angeles, Reno Bighorns and the Golden State Warriors’ NBA D-League team.
