After trailing for most of the game by as much 11 points, the Armor charged back late to tie the game with just under 7 minutes to go only to see Maine’s Tiny Gallon take control and put down 8 key points in the 4th quarter. Springfield pulled to within one after a late technical to Maine’s Mario West for a premature celebratory back flip in front of the Armor’s bench with 1.4 seconds left on the clock but could not close the gap. In the two-year rivalry between the two clubs, Springfield has never won on the Red Claws’ home court.
Springfield’s top scorers today were forward Gavin Edwards with 21 and guard JamesOn Curry with 16. Scottie Reynolds, Vernon Goodridge, and Jerry Smith each added 13 points.
Maine’s top scorers this afternoon were guard Jamar Smith with 20, forward Antonio Anderson with 14, and forward DeShawn Sims with 13.
Both teams will be idle until after the NBA Development League All-Star Break. The Armor will travel to Indiana to take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Tuesday, February 22 at 7 PM.
