SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Springfield Armor secured their second win in franchise history, beating the Erie BayHawks 87-75 in front of 2,082 at the MassMutual Center Saturday afternoon. JamesOn Curry, who played all but five minutes in the game, scored 10 points and dished out 10 assists for the Armor, who improved their record to 2-11. Curry now has 26 assists in the last two games. The Bayhawks were led by Jackie Manuel’s 18 points and dropped to 4-11 on the year.

The Armor led 47-45 after a back-and-forth first half that saw five lead changes and seven ties. Major Wingate and Dante Milligan led a productive Springfield bench with a combined six points and eight rebounds in the first half. Milligan brought energy to the Springfield defense, tipping several BayHawks passes and finishing with six points and 11 rebounds in just his second game back from a broken nose.

The two teams stayed close throughout the second half until Milligan’s acrobatic layup gave the Armor a 75-68 lead with eight minutes to play in the game. Wingate fed Armor leading scorer Morris Almond for another layup a few minutes later and Springfield took a nine point lead. The Armor’s lead would grow to as many as 14 after Almond’s dagger three-pointer in the corner with two and a half minutes left. Almond finished with 27 points and Springfield went on to win their second home game of the season.
