Armor Alumni in NBA Summer Leagues

The Springfield Armor are thrilled to have nine alumni playing in NBA summer leagues (the 2012 AirTran Airways Orlando Pro Summer League and the Las Vegas Summer League). Morris Almond (2009-2010), Craig Brackins (2010-11), Gavin Edwards (2010-11), Jeff Foote (2011-12), Vernon Goodridge (2010-11), Jerry Smith (2010-12), Ben Uzoh (2010-11), Jordan Williams (2011-12) and L.D. Williams (2010-12) have all joined NBA teams and the NBA D-League's entry in the Las Vegas Summer League. To find out where your favorite Armor alums are playing, see below:

Morris Almond (Oklahoma City Thunder)

Mo Almond played for the Armor during the team's inaugural season (2009-2010) and still holds the franchise record for most points scored in a single game (39). During his time in Springfield, Almond averaged 26.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He was drafted by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft and he recently earned a GATORADE Call-Up from the Maine Red Claws to the Washington Wizards toward the end of the 2011-12 season. In his debut with the Wizards, he scored 2 points against the Charlotte Bobcats. Mo had his best game against the Indiana Pacers where he scored 8 points and tallied 2 assists. Craig Brackins (Boston Celtics)

Craig Brackins was assigned to the Armor by the Philadelphia 76ers three times during the 2010-11 season, averaging 20.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Craig played for the 76ers for the past two years after being drafted 21st overall in the 2010 NBA Draft. Craig is currently a free agent and will be playing for the Celtics' entry in the NBA Summer League in Orlando (Craig spent time earlier this year on assignment to the Maine Red Claws, the Celtics' new hybrid single affiliate). Gavin Edwards (Portland Trail Blazers)

Gavin played for the Armor during the 2010-11 season, averaging 11.0 points and a team-high 8.8 rebounds per game. He also finished second on the team in blocked shots (1.5 per game). Gavin spent the 2011-12 season in Greece playing for Peristeri where he averaged 15.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. Jeff Foote (Brooklyn Nets)

Jeff earned All-NBA D-League Second Team honors after a stellar 2011-12 season that saw him average 15.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. Jeff was one of three Armor players to be recognized as an NBA D-League All-Star and he earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the New Orleans Hornets in March, scoring 4 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in his NBA debut against the Denver Nuggets on March 8. After just one season with the Armor, Jeff is the franchise's all-time leader in offensive rebounds and he's among the top five all-time in total rebounds and blocked shots. Vernon Goodridge (Milwaukee Bucks)

Vernon was the Armor's first round pick (fifth overall) in the 2010 NBA D-League Draft. Vernon played in 33 games for the Armor, averaging 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in 23.2 minutes per game. Vernon was traded to the Maine Red Claws for Eugene Spates on February 14, 2011. This past season, Vernon played overseas with BC Kyiv (Ukraine). Jerry Smith (NBA D-League Select Team)

Jerry Smith earned All-Defensive First Team and All-NBA D-League Third Team honors for his play during the 2011-12 season with the Armor. Jerry was also the first player in Armor history to be named NBA D-League Performer of the Week, as well as the first player to be named NBA D-League Player of the Month (in February). He earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the New Jersey Nets, appearing in five games with the Armor's hybrid single affiliate. Jerry made his regular season NBA debut on March 16 and scored a season-high 5 points against the Orlando Magic. Smith's best summer league outing was against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring a team high 21 and dishing 2 assists. Ben Uzoh (Toronto Raptors)

Ben was assigned by the Nets to the Armor during the 2010-11 season. During his time with the Armor, Ben averaged 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in 4 games (all on the road). Ben spent the beginning of the 2011-12 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers and ended the season with the Toronto Raptors (with a stint with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in between). While playing with the Raptors, Uzoh averaged 4.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Uzoh had an outstanding performance against the New York Knicks in which he scored 16 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists in 18 minutes of play. Jordan Williams (Atlanta Hawks)

Jordan Williams was assigned by the Nets to the Armor in January of the 2011-12 season. Jordan played in six games with the Armor, averaging 10.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. During the 2011-12 season with the Nets, Williams averaged 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. After returning to New Jersey from Springfield, Jordan ended up being named the Nets' 'Most Improved Player' for the 2011-12 season. L.D. Williams (San Antonio Spurs)

L.D. Williams was a mainstay in the Armor's lineup during the 2011-12 season after spending part of the previous season in Springfield. During the 2012 NBA D-League All-Star weekend, L.D. won the Slam Dunk Contest for the second year in a row. L.D. averaged 14.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in his two years with the team and has proven to be one of the most electrifying players in the NBA D-League.
