“We’re excited to be playing in a nationally televised game,” Armor head coach Dee Brown said. “Our guys have worked hard all year and it’s great to see them get some additional exposure.”
The game, which will be played at Fort Wayne’s Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, will be the second game in an Armor uniform for rookie guard, Ben Uzoh, a recent assignee of the New Jersey Nets. Uzoh, who was undrafted after a stellar career at the University of Tulsa, joins former Gatorade Call-Up JamesOn Curry, former AP All-American Scottie Reynolds, and Jerry Smith in the Armor’s potent backcourt.
Uzoh is also the third NBA player to be assigned to the Armor this season, joining former New Jersey Nets’ forward, Terrence Williams, and current Philadelphia 76ers’ forward, Craig Brackins. The Armor are tied with the Erie BayHawks for the most NBA assignments in the D-League this season with four (Brackins was assigned two separate times to Springfield).
Notes:
*Reynolds missed the Armor’s overtime loss to Fort Wayne on March 12th due to illness.
*Reynolds, Smith, and Gavin Edwards are the only Armor players whose collegiate teams are competing in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Both Reynolds and Edwards advanced to the 2009 NCAA Final Four with Villanova and UConn respectively, and Smith advanced to the Elite 8 that year with Louisville.
*The Armor have one home game remaining this season, on Saturday March 26th against the New Mexico Thunderbirds. The game will be the team’s ‘Fan Appreciation Night’, as well as ‘Affiliate Night’.
