66ers Stop Armor
TULSA, Okla., March 16, 2012 Ryan Reid recorded 19 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots, Marcus Lewis collected his 29th double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 boards and the Tulsa 66ers (20-22) earned their fourth consecutive victory by defeating the Springfield Armor (22-17) by a 106-97 final Friday night at home.
Leading Tulsa in scoring was Dwight Buycks with 23. Also in double figures was Jerome Dyson with 20, Robert Vaden with 14 and Larry Owens with 13. It marked the 10th time this season six players notched double-digit scoring for the 66ers.
Tulsa tallied 17 assists on the offensive end, led by Owens with a team-high seven helpers.
The 66ers, who led by as many as 13 on the night, tied for a season-high 12 blocked shots and forced nine turnovers on the defensive end.
I thought tonight we looked fresh and really got after it on both ends of the floor, 66ers head coach Dale Osbourne said. Our entire team is doing a good job of understanding roles and trusting each other. We have to continue to come out and be ready to play each and every night in order to be successful in this league.
Leading Springfield was Dennis Horner with 28 points and nine rebounds. JamesOn Curry was also strong with 23 points, a game-high eight assists and five steals.
The 66ers and Armor will meet again Saturday night, March 17, inside the Tulsa Convention Center at 7 p.m. CT.
