Skyforce Hosts Energy This Weekend

Sioux Falls, S.D. (March 19, 2008) – The Sioux Falls Skyforce will host Central Division rival Iowa on Friday and Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. Royal River Casino will be giving away $1,000 cash on Friday night while 300 Skyforce mini basketballs courtesy of Sioux Falls Ford and 1,000 Kasib Powell posters will be given away on Saturday night.

Friday night’s game tips off at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by Royal River Casino. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early as the first 1,000 adults in attendance will receive a free HOOP magazine with an attached raffle ticket. Winning numbers will be announced throughout the game with four fans winning $100, $150, $250 and $500. Popular contortionist Lilia Stepanova will be the halftime entertainment presented by HJN Team Real Estate.

Saturday night’s game also tips off at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by Sioux Falls Ford. Doors will once again open at 6:15 p.m. and the first 300 kids in attendance will receive a Skyforce mini basketball courtesy of Sioux Falls Ford. Additionally, the first 1,000 fans will go home with a Kasib Powell “K.P. for MVP” poster. Powell is having a career year as he is currently averaging 22.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists and is shooting 43% (50-of-116) from the 3-point line. Crowd-pleasing Quick Change will be the halftime entertainment presented by HJN Team Real Estate.

Sioux Falls and Iowa are both still in the hunt for a playoff spot as they trail the Central Division-leading Dakota Wizards by 1.0 and 4.5 games respectively. Sioux Falls trails Colorado by 1.5 games in the wild card standings for the sixth and final playoff spot. The Energy snapped the Skyforce’s 11-game home winning streak on March 11 with a hard-fought 111-108 victory. The Energy roster features former Hawkeyes players Adam Haluska, Jeff Horner and Doug Thomas along with Chicago Bulls assignees Shannon Brown and Cedric Simmons.
