Skyforce-Mad Ants Swap Guards
Sioux Falls, S.D. (January 12, 2009) – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired guard David Bailey from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in exchange for guard Carl Elliott. Bailey will be in uniform tomorrow night when Sioux Falls hosts the Utah Flash.
Bailey is no stranger to Sioux Falls as he had two prior stints with the longstanding organization. A key component on last year’s playoff team, he appeared in 47 games (44 starts) with the Skyforce and averaged 15.4 points, 5.6 assists and 1.7 steals. He recorded a game-high 29 points to lead Sioux Falls to a road victory over the Dakota Wizards in the first round of the 2008 NBA Development League Playoffs. After averaging 9.7 points and 4.5 assists during the 2004-05 regular season as the backup point guard, he went on to average 18.9 points and 6.4 assists as a starter in the playoffs following the departure of Randy Livingston to the NBA.
The 5-8, 165-pound guard from Loyola-Chicago ranks fifth all-time in assists (468) and ninth in free throw percentage (.824). A member of the 2005 CBA Championship team, he also recorded the only postseason triple-double in franchise history with 35 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against the Rockford Lightning during the 2005 Playoffs.
The Skyforce’s next game is on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at home against the Utah Flash. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena. Twelve-ticket flex packs are on sale throughout the 2008-09 season.
