Skyforce Announces Sanford Health Weekend
Sioux Falls, S.D. (February 18, 2009) – The Sioux Falls Skyforce and Minnesota Timberwolves will jointly celebrate their 20th anniversary seasons this weekend in conjunction with Sanford Health. The celebration will begin in Sioux Falls on Saturday and will conclude in Minneapolis on Sunday night as the Timberwolves take on the Los Angeles Lakers.
On Saturday afternoon members of the Timberwolves front office staff, including team president Chris Wright and assistant general manager Fred Hoiberg along with dance team members and Crunch, will visit the new Sanford Children’s Hospital which is set to open in mid-March. Additionally, the Timberwolves will host a youth basketball clinic at Family Wellness for children of Sanford Health employees and will also have an in-game presence with performances by their dance team and Crunch during the Skyforce game on Saturday night against the Erie BayHawks.
“The Timberwolves organization has gone out of their way to welcome us into their family,” said Skyforce owner/team president Mike Heineman. “We look forward to continuing to build on this successful relationship.”
The following evening the Timberwolves will host Sanford Health and the Skyforce at the Target Center when the Timberwolves host the Los Angeles Lakers. The Skyleaders are scheduled to perform and Thunder will be on hand to help Crunch entertain the crowd throughout the game. The weekend will culminate with a special on-court ceremony recognizing executives from Sanford Health and members of the Sioux Falls Skyforce organization.
“Our partnership with the Skyforce has been a fantastic asset, both on and off the court, and we’re so proud to jointly celebrate this important milestone for our franchises,” said Timberwolves team president Chris Wright. “Through the help of Mike Miller we began building a relationship with Sanford Health earlier this season and they’ve become a wonderful partner as well. We’re looking forward to visiting Sioux Falls on Saturday and welcoming both of these great organizations to Target Center on Sunday.”
The Skyforce’s next game is on Thursday, Feb. 19 on the road against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
