Skyforce Clinches Fourth Straight Playoff Berth

Sioux Falls, S.D. (April 7, 2008) – The Sioux Falls Skyforce clinched a berth in the 2008 NBA Development League Playoffs last night following a convincing 125-90 win over the visiting Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the regular season home finale and a loss by the Tulsa 66ers.

Sioux Falls (28-21) is currently in first place in the Central Division and leads Dakota (27-21) by 0.5 game as the 2007-08 regular season enters the final week. In order to clinch the franchise’s first conference/division title in eight years the Skyforce must win their final contest in Colorado on Friday or Dakota must lose one of their final two games on Friday and Saturday in Fort Wayne. If both teams end the regular season with identical records, Sioux Falls would win the division by virtue of a 7-3 edge in the season series. A loss by Sioux Falls and two wins by Dakota would give the Wizards their second straight division title.

This year’s D-League Playoffs will consist of three rounds, with the first two rounds both consisting of two single-elimination games. The three division winners and three wild card teams with the best remaining records will qualify for the postseason. The two division winners with the best records will receive a first-round bye while the remaining four teams will play in the first round (#6 vs. #3, #5 vs. #4). The winners of the first round games will advance to take on the two teams that received byes (#6/#3 vs. #2, #5/#4 vs. #1). The winners of the second round will meet in a best-of-three D-League Finals. The team with the better record will host the second and third game, if necessary.
