HEAT Re-Assigns Pittman to Skyforce
Sioux Falls, S.D. (Jan. 6, 2011) – The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today the assignment of Miami HEAT center Dexter Pittman. This marks his second stint with the Skyforce this season as he was previously assigned from Nov. 26-Dec. 18. The active roster now stands at 10 players.
Pittman averaged a team-leading 16.6 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 60.2 percent (53-of-88) from the field in eight games (all starts) during his first stint with the Skyforce. His best outing was on Dec. 17 as he nearly posted a triple-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks against the Utah Flash.
Pittman, who has yet to appear in an NBA regular season game, averaged 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in four preseason contests. The 6-11, 308-pound rookie was drafted by the HEAT in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft. He averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 62.3 percent (337-of-541) from the field in 134 career games (59 starts) over four seasons at the University of Texas.
The Skyforce’s next game is on Friday, Jan. 7 on the road against the Erie BayHawks. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT at Tullio Arena.
