In March of 2003, the Sioux Falls Skyforce created a charity to benefit family members of soldiers who were sent overseas for service. Operation Cares was launched with the help of over twenty Sioux Falls businesses. This effort has been very successful as it has raised over $120,000. All proceeds have gone to help military families with everyday needs such as car repairs, groceries, home repairs, etc.
The Sioux Falls Skyforce hosts a Military Night game each season as they wear camouflage uniforms which are auctioned off to raise money for the cause. Sponsored by Architecture Incorporated, Raven Industries – Aerostar Division and media partner KELO TV, the Military Night game for the 2012-13 season will be on Saturday, Feb. 2.
