Operation Cares/Opening Doors | Roger D. Larsen Benefit Golf Tournament
Sky's the Limit Youth Foundation | Special Forces
In March of 2003, the Sioux Falls Skyforce created a charity to benefit family members of soldiers who were sent overseas for service. Operation Cares was launched with the help of over twenty Sioux Falls businesses. This effort has been very successful as we have raised and distributed over $100,000. All proceeds have gone to help military families with everyday needs such as car repairs, groceries, home repairs, etc.
A new effort was launched in June of 2004 called Operation Opening Doors. This will serve as a branch of Operation Cares benefiting soldiers who return home with a disability. These soldiers’ houses will be renovated to assist their transition back home. Operation Opening Doors will aid soldiers by providing services such as installing ramps, widening doorways and retrofitting bathrooms with accessible equipment.
The Sioux Falls Skyforce hosts a Military Night game each season as they wear camouflage uniforms which are auctioned off after the game to raise money for the cause. We would like to thank Architecture Incorporated for being the official sponsor of Military Night.
