Greg Heineman

A graduate of South Dakota State University, D. Greg Heineman serves as the owner of the Sioux Falls Skyforce, alongside his son Mike. On May 13, 1993, a group of local businessmen, including Heineman, Bob Correa, Roger Larsen and Tom Walsh purchased the team from the Kemper Lesnik Organization. The four community business leaders quickly established three goals:

  • Provide Sioux Falls, fans, and corporate partners with the best family entertainment value in the area.
  • Provide Sioux Falls with the best minor league basketball franchise in America both on-and-off the basketball court.
  • Enhance the image of Sioux Falls as the best place to live in America.

These goals remain the focus of the organization to this day. Greg continues to build upon this foundation set up by he and his partners in 1993.

After the CBA was bought out by Isiah Thomas, Greg and his business partner Roger Larsen repurchased the team in 2001. Upon the sudden death of Roger in February of 2002, Heineman carried on with the Skyforce vision he and Larsen had worked so hard to create.

Heineman also serves as President of Williams Insurance. His wife Phyllis is an active member of the South Dakota Legislature and together they have raised three sons: Robb, an investment banker in Kansas City, Mo., Mike, co-owner of the Skyforce, and Nick, who operates Look's Market in Sioux Falls.
