Skyforce to Host Benefit Golf Tournament

Sioux Falls, S.D. (March 21, 2011) – The Sioux Falls Skyforce will host the 10th Annual Roger D. Larsen Benefit Golf Tournament on Monday, June 6 at Minnehaha Country Club. Check-in for the four-person scramble begins at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. To secure a spot in the tournament please call the Skyforce office at (605) 332-0605.

“Moving the date will give our guests an opportunity to play the on the newly renovated course at Minnehaha Country Club,” said Skyforce owner/president Mike Heineman. “The changes they have made are unbelievable and it will be a special treat for our golfers to be some of the first people to have the opportunity to play the new holes.”

Entry fee for the event is $700 per foursome which includes green fees, cart rental, unlimited range balls, lunch on the course, free drinks, cocktail hour and banquet dinner. There will be a live auction following the banquet to help raise additional funds.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Sky’s the Limit Youth Foundation. Each year, Skyforce coaches, players and staff are involved in a variety of Sky’s the Limit outreach activities. Sky’s the Limit will distribute funds to local organizations that help South Dakota kids and Dakota State University (Roger’s alma mater) for a scholarship in his name. Last year’s event raised $8,549, pushing the nine-year total to $257,087.

Roger Larsen was a member of the Sioux Falls Skyforce ownership group from 1993-99 and again from 2001 until his life came to a tragic halt on Feb. 13, 2002. Larsen and current Skyforce owner Greg Heineman were business partners at Williams Insurance for 31 years prior to his unexpected death.
