Skyforce to Host Community Blood Drive

Sioux Falls, S.D. (December 26, 2006) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that they will host a blood drive on Friday, December 29, from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena. Anyone donating blood will receive four tickets to that night's game against the defending champion Albuquerque Thunderbirds. Food and refreshments will also be provided courtesy of the Sioux Falls Arena.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Sioux Falls Police Department will be competing to see which department can recruit the most blood donors for Community Blood Bank in the 12th Annual "Heroes Behind the Badges" blood donation campaign.

From December 26 through January 5, both Avera McKennan and Sioux Valley Hospital blood donor rooms will be available for donations. The public is encouraged to come in to donate and designate their donation to the department of their choice. Donors can choose a "police" or "fire" t-shirt for signing up to donate at the donor rooms, while supplies last. Walk-ins are welcome, or call 322-7111 (Avera McKennan) or 333-6444 (Sioux Valley) for appointments.

The department credited with the most blood donations will contribute $350 to the service organization of their choice; second place will donate $150. Sioux Falls Police Department has designated Special Olympics of South Dakota, and Sioux Falls Fire Rescue has chosen Children's Home Society. Citibank, South Dakota and Community Blood Bank have contributed the prize money.

The Sioux Falls Skyforce next game is on Thursday, December 28, on the road against the Austin Toros. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center. For information on season and single game tickets please call a Skyforce representative at (605) 332-0605.
