Ewing, Jr., Pittman Named to East All-Star Squad

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Feb. 3, 2011) – Sioux Falls Skyforce forward Patrick Ewing, Jr. and center Dexter Pittman were named to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team, the NBA Development League announced today. The 2011 NBA D-League All-Star Game presented by SonoSite will be played on Saturday, Feb. 19 on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas. The game will air live on NBA TV at 4 p.m. CT.

Ewing, Jr., who was acquired in a trade with the Reno Bighorns on Jan. 25, is averaging 15.6 points and 8.6 rebounds in 28 games (27 starts). He made his Skyforce debut this past weekend against the Dakota Wizards and averaged 13.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two contests.

Pittman, who is currently on assignment from the Miami HEAT, is averaging 14.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks while shooting 55.6 percent (100-of-180) from the field. The rookie center currently ranks among the league leaders in rebounds (12th), blocked shots (4th) and field goal percentage (8th).

A combination of voting by the league’s 16 head coaches and fan balloting on nba.com/dleague was used to select the 20 NBA D-League All-Stars, 10 from each conference. Players who have been selected must be on an active NBA D-League roster to compete in the NBA D-League All-Star Game.

Tulsa 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts and his assistant coach Dale Osbourne will coach the West, while Iowa Energy head coach Nick Nurse and his assistant coach Nate Bjorkgren will coach the East. Nurse and Bjorkgren are coaching their third consecutive All-Star Game, while Tibbetts and Osbourne are making their first All-Star Game appearance. Both coaching staffs were selected based on their teams having the highest winning percentage in their respective conferences through Feb. 1. Prior to the game, Tibbetts and Nurse will choose starting lineups for their own teams.

The Skyforce’s next game is on Friday, Feb. 4 on the road against the Iowa Energy. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets and 12-ticket flex packs for the 2010-11 season are on sale. Discounts and benefits are also available for groups of 10 or more.
